JANUARY 2018

 GETTING READY TO “PLAY BALL”!

Hopefully, all you baseball players took 4 – 6 weeks off from all baseball activities. During your time off, you should have mentally prepared for your winter workout. You should have analyzed your past season. What did you do well? Did you write it down? Where do you need to improve? Did you write it down? YOU MUST BE HONEST IN YOUR EVALUATION!

It’s now January and you should be well into your winter workout. Your winter workout probably includes hitting, fielding, catching, and if you are a pitcher, pitching. Be sure to concentrate on your weaker parts of the game. Don’t forget to include agility, strength and conditioning.

How much do you want to play at the next level? The next level is different for every baseball player. Maybe you want to be a starter, not a bench player. Remember, both are needed for a team to be successful. As a bench player, when given the chance, be ready and always give 100%. Maybe there is a club or travel team you want to play for. Maybe you want to make your high school JV or varsity team. Maybe you’re preparing for college level baseball. Whatever your next level is, work hard and make it happen. It won’t be easy, but you can make it happen! You have to be committed! You have to be disciplined! You can’t make excuses not to work out! You can’t quit! Be sure to use all the resources available to you. Your family, teammates and coaches can all help. The most important ingredient is YOU!

Before you know it, team tryouts (rec, travel, club, high school and college) will begin. BE PREPARED!

PROPER PREPARATION PREVENTS POOR PERFORMANCE!

ALWAYS BE POSITIVE!     ALWAYS GIVE 100%     ENERGY TAKES NO TALENT!
